Care Instructions - 5D Ear Prosthetics
time:2020-01-04 source:爱耳医疗 hit:6711
  • Before attaching the ear prosthetic, clean the auriculotemporal area with soap to remove oil secreted by the local skin, facilitating adhesion. Apply a thin layer of eyelash glue to the bottom of the ear prosthetic (excluding the edge trim). Attach it to the correct position (before applying glue, practice repeatedly without glue to familiarize yourself with the proper attachment site). Press gently for five minutes, then apply a small amount of white petroleum jelly between the edge trim and the skin using an eyelash glue applicator—do not use sharp tools as they may puncture the prosthetic—to conceal the boundary. It is recommended to remove the ear prosthetic daily to prevent natural loosening from continuous wear.
  • Skin adhesive can be used after mastering the wearing technique. Skin adhesive has strong adhesion, allowing the prosthetic to be worn continuously for over a week. However, after removal, use the accompanying adhesive remover to clean residual glue from the skin. When removing the prosthetic, peel it off slowly from back to front.
  • The ear prosthetic is made of medical-grade silicone and blended with permanent pigments. The average service life is approximately 3 years per unit. The silicone component will gradually age due to external exposure. When not in use, store the prosthetic in a fresh-keeping bag and avoid extrusion. Spare prosthetics should be stored in a sealed, light-proof container, protected from extrusion. Before storage, it is recommended to perform silicone oil maintenance: apply silicone oil evenly to the prosthetic surface with a cotton swab, wipe off excess silicone oil with a tissue after 15 minutes, and clean the adhesive surface of the prosthetic simultaneously.
  • After removing the ear prosthetic, clean it with room temperature water—do not use strong chemicals such as cleansers, detergents, or dish soap. Neutral soap and neutral shampoo are currently recognized as safe cleaning products; other cleaners may cause oxidation and fading of the prosthetic.
  • After removing the prosthetic, clean residual eyelash glue and petroleum jelly from the skin with soap (or facial cleanser). For stubborn adhesive residues, apply floral water or essential oil to remove them, then clean the area again.
  • Clean the ear prosthetic separately—do not wash it with other dyed fabrics to avoid staining. When wearing the prosthetic, do not use hats or scarves that are prone to fading, as this may also cause staining.
